Punjab IG Approves Direct Recruitment in Riot Management Police Force

The Inspector General (IG) of Punjab Police has approved amendments to the police rules, paving the way for direct recruitment into the Riot Management Police (RMP) to address the force’s growing manpower shortage.

According to sources, the revised rules will allow direct induction into the Riot Management Police for the first time. The decision has been taken in response to the significant shortage of personnel in the Punjab Police, particularly in the district police and the Punjab Constabulary.

Sources said the shortage of officers and personnel across various districts has affected the department’s operational capacity, increasing the need for additional manpower to maintain law and order and respond effectively to emergency situations.

Officials are expected to issue a recruitment advertisement for the Riot Management Police in the near future, after which applications will be invited from eligible candidates.

However, the Punjab Police has not yet officially announced details regarding the recruitment schedule, the number of vacancies, eligibility criteria, or the application procedure. Prospective applicants have been advised to follow official Punjab Police announcements for the latest updates.
