A football semi-final in southern Thailand turned tragic after a lightning strike hit the pitch, killing one player instantly and injuring 12 others.
The incident occurred on August 4 at Santiphap Stadium in Sungai Kolok, Narathiwat Province, during the Golok FA Cup semi-final.
Video footage circulating online shows players in action when lightning suddenly struck the field, fatally hitting a Thai footballer.
Among the injured was a Malaysian player, while emergency teams rushed the victims to nearby hospitals.
The match was immediately abandoned, and authorities urged organizers to suspend outdoor sporting events whenever thunderstorms are present.
