BRADFORD: A Pakistani man is being widely praised for his courage after confronting a group of masked and armed attackers who targeted Pakistan Jewellers in broad daylight in Bradford, United Kingdom.

The dramatic incident took place on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at a jewellers on Duckworth Lane in Bradford. CCTV footage shows a grey pickup truck repeatedly reversing into the front of the shop, smashing through the exterior and causing significant damage.

At the time of the attack, staff members and customers were inside the premises. The masked attackers then attempted to enter the shop, reportedly carrying weapons and large bags.

As the robbers stormed towards the jewellery store, a young Pakistani man inside the premises decided to resist. According to reports, 20-year-old Muhammad Ali initially threw a small hammer towards the attackers before grabbing a baseball bat and confronting them.

CCTV footage shows Ali chasing the attackers outside the shop and striking towards the fleeing vehicle with the bat. His resistance reportedly forced the gang to abandon their attempt and flee the scene without successfully taking jewellery from the store.

Ali later described the terrifying moments and said that although he was frightened, he felt compelled to act in order to protect the people inside the shop and his family’s business. His father was also reportedly present and tried to stop him from putting himself in danger.

The attack lasted only around 35 seconds, but caused considerable damage to the shop’s frontage. Reports also indicate that a female customer suffered minor injuries, although there were no reports of major casualties.

West Yorkshire Police attended the scene shortly after the incident and launched an investigation. Officers appealed to witnesses and anyone with information or relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.

The shop’s owners are now expected to strengthen security measures following the attack. Proposed measures reportedly include installing protective bollards and stronger, triple-glazed security glass to prevent vehicles from being used to ram the premises in the future.

The dramatic CCTV footage has attracted widespread attention on social media, with many people praising the Pakistani man’s bravery for standing up to the armed attackers despite the obvious danger.

The incident has also renewed concerns among local traders about the security of jewellery shops and other businesses vulnerable to so-called ram raids, in which vehicles are deliberately driven into commercial premises to gain access.

The investigation into the attempted robbery remains ongoing, and police are working to identify and apprehend those responsible.
